The worst is when they rename a capital and then rename it right back just a few years later. I’M LOOKING AT YOU KAZAKHSTAN

Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Should I be spellin’ it Turkey or Türkiye? Ah jeez ... one a’ the things ’bout geopolitics is how world leaders never stop to think about the poor trivia buffs who’ve gotta learn ’n’ unlearn things every time somethin’ changes!!
I’m kiddin’, a’ course. Matter a’ fact, the changes actually work out kinda nice for us trivia writers, seein’ as how it’s all fodder for us to write stuff ’bout. Like for example when Egypt finally figures out a name for that new capital they’re buildin’, ya better believe I’ll be askin’ youse guys about it!
Now a new capital’s one thing, but what’s REAL excitin’ is when ya get a new country, since that means a whole buncha stuff: new capital, new flag, it might even move around some global rankings, etc.1 So ya can imagine I was pretty interested to hear ’bout plans to create a new microstate for the Bektashi—they’re a Sufi religious order, in case ya didn’t know—located within the bounds a’ the capital city a’ what country?
I guess the idea is for this situation to be kinda like how the Vatican City’s right in the middle a’ Rome. Oh, an’ fun fact: this country’s majority Muslim, but for a li’l while it was actually the world’s first constitutionally atheist state, after Enver Hoxha decreed it to be that way in 1967.
Trivia 2
The Bektashi Order’s one a’ several Sufi mystic orders, or tariqa; in the West, the most famous a’ these is prob’ly the Mevlevi Order a.k.a. the “whirlin’ dervishes”. The Mevlevi were founded by what 13th century poet ’n’ religious scholar, whose Masnavi is considered one a’ the pinnacles a’ Persian literature?
OK then
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
A new country also means some folks probably got together to vote in the hopes a’ makin’ some kinda better future for themselves, which I guess is pretty cool too???
