Answers to Last Time
Hampton U.’s the site a’ the Emancipation Oak, an’ the story goes that that’s where they had the first readin’ a’ the Emancipation Proclamation in the Southern states.
Ms. Ruth E. Carter, costume designer extraordinaire, won an Oscar for her work on Black Panther, which was the first a’ the Marvel Studios movies to win an Oscar.2
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Ms. Carter did costumes for lotsa movies ya’ve prolly seen, everythin’ from Do the Right Thing ’n’ Malcolm X to the U.S. remake a’ Oldoy. She even did the costumes for the pilot episode a’ Seinfeld!
That episode (“Good News, Bad News”) was a li’l weird, it didn’t have Elaine in it at all. (Apparently Julia Louis-Dreyfus didn’t know the episode even EXISTED ’til it was released in the Season 1 box set? Pretty bonkers!) Also, the character a’ Kramer didn’t go by the name “Kramer”. Instead, Jerry called him what sorta-similar-soundin’ last name?
Now, I gotta admit, this one’s a li’l obscure, especially for a Monday trivia. But I’m sorry to say, I don’t have too many other hints to help ya out with! The only other thing I can come up with is that this name’s also the name a’ the NASA scientist who first got concerned ’bout how a bunch a’ space pollution in low Earth orbit might maybe start smashin’ up together, which in turn might create lotsa little pieces that could make future space stuff real hard to do. His namesake “syndrome” is somethin’ that people are worried about with, for instance, all those Starlink satellites that SpaceX put up in orbit.
Trivia 2
OK, enough a’ Seinfeld ’n’ NASA scientists, I wanna get back to Ms. Carter’s oeuvre! In addition to all that other work I mentioned, she also did the costumes for a 2005 movie that was a sequel to—an’ named after the main spaceship from—what sci-fi teevee series that only ran for one season on Fox?
Remember, I want the name a’ the teevee series! NOT the spaceship!! So if ya answer with the name a’ the spaceship, I’m gonna hafta score ya wrong!!!
OK then
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
If ya think I misscored somethin’ ... there’s a real good chance that I did! Just shoot me a mail at mandible@maxil.la ’n’ I can take another look-see, don’tcha know?
In case ya were curious, Black Panther also won for Original Score (Ludwig Göransson ) ’n’ Production Design (Hannah Beachler and Jay Hart). It was also pretty famously the first superhero movie to ever get nominated for Best Picture!
