Skeleton Trivia for Thursday, 2024-03-28
But what happened to Daplo, Deplo, Doplo, and sometimes Dyplo?
Hi Skeleton Crew,
We’ve only got two days left a’ trivia in the month a’ March!
But don’tcha worry, we’re gonna launch right into April trivias after the weekend. I’m feelin’ downright spry ’n’ sprightly after my li’l week a’ rest an’ recuperation!
Answers to Last Time
Duplo is the brand a’ Lego that’s geared for younger kids, an’ it appeared as invadin’ aliens in the second Lego Movie.
Diplo is the DJ who’s collabed with Sia an’ Labrinth (formin’ the supergroup LSD) an’ whose name apparently comes from the dinosaur Diplodocus.
As far as our li’l Wacky Wednesday themes go, yesterday’s was pretty straightforward, is my feelin’: Duplo, Diplo, there ya go!
Today’s Questions
Question 1
Diplodocus’s a sauropod, which basically means one a’ those honkin’-big long-necked dinos – y’know, like Apatosaurus or Brachiosaurus or Brontosaurus. Now, my personal favorite sauropod is Argentinasaurus, which is one of a group a’ sauropods known as titanosaurs, an’ it’s maybe the biggest animals to’ve ever walked on land!
All the fossils a’ Argentinasaurus we have were found in what geographic region, which (surprisin’ly appropriately!) takes its name from a rumored race a’ giant humans that the explorer Ferdinand Magellan supposedly came across durin’ his voyage ’round the world?
This region’s the namesake for a different titanosaur, i.e. a relative a’ Argentinasaurus, that itself was thought for a hot minute to’ve been the largest dinosaur ever, although now most folks think it probably wasn’t after all.
Question 2
The best-known Diplodocus – an’ quite possibly the best known dino skeleton, period – is “Dippy”, an example a’ the species Diplodocus carnegii. That carnegii is, as ya mighta guessed, in reference to none other than Mr. Andrew Carnegie, an’ ya can still visit Dippy himself at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in what city?
OK then
