Couldn’t quite fit a Herman's Hermits reference, so it got stuck here in the dek
Hi Skeleton Crew,
Nothin’ too special to report here. For some reason, I got the feelin’ today’s gonna be a good day.
I don’t mean anythin’ wildly amazin’, nothin’ like that ... just one a’ those real solid nice days. Here’s hopin’, eh?
Answers to Last Time
Those fancy induction stovetops are pretty nifty, even if they aren’t gonna work with my copper ’n’ aluminum pans.
LEED certification can come in Certified, Silver, Gold, ’n’ Platinum varieties.
Today’s Questions
Question 1
The very first buildin’ to get certified LEED Platinum is actually London’s City Hall, didja know that?
Although it wasn’t actually City Hall when that certification happened back in 2012. Nah, back then it was known as “The Crystal” (fancy!) an’ was built by what German technology company as a kinda expo center for sustainable architecture? This company was founded by the fella who got the SI unit a’ electrical conductance named after himself.
Question 2
It really woulda been perfect if the guy from Q1 was the namesake for the SI unit a’ electrical INductance, since that’d’ve fit in perfect with the induction stovetop trivia I had at the top a’ this newsletter. Alas ’n’ alack! Things don’t always work out quite so totally amazin’ly perfect as that, do they?
But since I brought it up ... can ya tell me what the name a’ the SI unit for electrical inductance? I can’t say whether the scientist who’s its namesake was a steel-drivin’ man – or maybe even a Superman – but I heard once that he paid the Ransom a’ Red Chief with a Black Flag. (That could just be a rumor, though.)
OK then
