Hi Skeleton Crew,
Quick announcement: there’s this invite-only trivia site called Learned League, an’ if ya happen to be a member, well, there’s gonna be a quiz up there tomorrow that my pal wrote! The quiz is a bit silly, the theme is that all the questions are literally about BS – i.e., bull-you-know-what. Normally I try ’n’ keep the Trivia Zone G- or at least PG-rated, so it ain’t quite the sort a’ thing ya’d normally here find on this here newsletter ... but my pal asked me to mention it, so I guess that’s my good deed for the day done!
An’ if ya don’t play Learned League ... I guess never mind?? (Though, heck, if ya want an invite, lemme know an’ I can forward the request on to my pal!)
Answers to Last Time
Siemens AG is the company that built The Crystal, now home to London’s City Hall.
The SI unit for ’lectric inductance is the henry, named for the American scientist Joseph Henry. But to help ya out I added some references into the question ’bout other famous Henrys: John Henry, Henry Cavill, O. Henry, an’ Henry Rollins.
Today’s Questions
Question 1
Speakin’ a’ Henrys ... I just started this book, it’s by Hilary Mantel, that follows the rise ’n’ fall a’ Thomas Cromwell in the court a’ Henry VIII. It’s great so far! I can see why they gave the thing a Booker Prize.
Anyway, what’s the title a’ this book I’m readin’? It comes from the seat a’ the Seymour family, nothin’ lupine about it (’cept maybe metaphorically).
Question 2
What author won the O. Henry Award twice, first in 1967 for her story “In the Region of Ice”, plus a second time in 1973 for “The Dead”? She also won a National Book Award for her novel them, an’ her book Blonde about Marilyn Monroe was made into a movie a couple years back ... though if I’m bein’ honest, I feel like lotsa kids today know her best as “that famous author lady who tweets on Twitter a lot”.
OK then
