It’s *cough* *cough* trivia time!! *cough* *cough* *cough* !!!
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
Ah jeez, ah jeez, it’s been a rough couple a’ days here at Skeleton HQ. I can’t go into deets right now, but lemme just say: bein’ sick STINKS!!!
Answers to Last Time (and also the time before that)
First things first, here’s the answers to yesterday’s guest post, care of Mr. Adam from Scalesia:
Gaia is the name of the primordial earth goddess, which gives us the word “Gigantes” (Earth-born) and thus “giant” and “giga” in English.
The Greek version of the Roman god “Saturn” is Cronus (also called Cronos or Kronos); he was another son of Gaia and Uranus and was king of the titans, until his son, Zeus, took control and imprisoned him in Tartarus. Some sources say Zeus castrated him—fun!
And there a’ course I also gotta tell ya the answers to Tuesday’s trivias, since I never actually did get around to doin’ that!!
The brand name for that star-shaped screwdriver is Torx.
That funny brass thingamajig in my tool box was an astrolabe.
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
What type a’ viral respiratory infection with a characteristic “barky” cough is most usually seen in kiddos, usually as a result a’ gettin’ infected with a flu virus of some sort? It’s also somethin’ ya used to see caused by diptheria—oftentimes fatal, yikes-a-roo!—but thankfully that’s not happenin’ so much ever since they introduced the DPT vaccine.
Trivia 2
The P in the DPT vaccine standard for pertussis. With that in mind, what bird species, the tallest in North America, almost went extinct in the 1940s? It’s doin’ better nowadays, but with only 800-some-odd individuals in the wild, this species is still listed as endangered.
OK then
